Summary

GRAX Labs presents a first look into the ‘GRAX Settings tab.’ With GRAX’s newly enhanced user interface (UI), you can now take advantage of our new streamlined experience for setting up GRAX. This includes the initial configuration of Salesforce credentials, user management, sign-in policies, and permission sets. Although the configuration is done in our new UI, GRAX still supports all the security and permissions you’re accustomed to within Salesforce.  Watch this video to take a tour around the Settings tab and see how you can securely set up and configure the GRAX application.

Hello, this is Michael Moran and welcome back to GRAX Labs. Today, we are going to take a look at the Settings tab within the GRAX application.

Before we begin, please take a moment to review our safe harbor statement.  It is also available on the website.

OK, let’s begin!

Once your application is configured, you will probably not need to go into settings on a day-to-day basis.  We want to go over these menus at a high level so you have some familiarity with them.  As always, if you want a detailed explanation, please check out our documentation.

We’re going to start with Salesforce.

This screen will allow you to see what org your GRAX environment is hooked up to as well as update the credentials – either by autoconfigure or with a username and password.

We’re going to move to object storage now.  This screen allows you to configure your storage for GRAX.  You can select between AWS S3, Azure Blob, or a GCP bucket.  As a good practice, consider hosting your storage in the same cloud as the application.

Within these tabs there are settings for the various configuration options depending on the underlying object type you select.

From Here we’re going to move to General Settings.

General settings allows you to configure the grax admin email address and toggle some of the underlying behavior of GRAX.  This includes setting the metadata backup interval as well as the delete tracking interval.  Another important feature is the record session activity option, which is helpful if you need to demonstrate something for support.

Moving on to Archive, Restore & Seeding.

These settings give you fine grain control over GRAX’s archive, restore, and seeding behavior.  The option I’d like to highlight is managing the sandbox seed targets.  You can do this in the wizard while building a new seed, but you can also do it here.

The last three, API Token Management, Advanced Features, and GRAX API Tokens are all advanced functionality.  API token management allows you to configure the tokens you’ll use if you are instrumenting GRAX through our API.  Advanced features gives you access to additional views or preview features who’s availability is subject to change.  Finally the GRAX API Tokens are the tokens GRAX uses to hook up to the Salesforce environment.

Finally, I’d like to highlight the Diagnostics and Tools button in the upper right corner.  These utilities are very important if we are diagnosing unexpected behavior or we need to understand what GRAX is able to see in Salesforce.

Thank you and I hope this quick view of the settings tab has been helpful.  If you have any questions, please contact sales@grax.com for more information.

Thank you!
